AMA: Secrets You Can Only Ask Me on Zoom
If you’ve ever wondered how to scheme your way into a food job, cure olives in a pillowcase, or what the inside of Bourdain’s fridge looked like; this is the place for you.
I’m writing to you from an ancient stone masseria in Sicily where I’m hosting fourteen hardy souls for a food and yoga retreat with Elissa Cerignotta. Not because I don’t love you all but because I do, I’m keeping it simple and salty ‘till I return next week—just like my Sicilian almonds (don’t worry, I’ll be sharing the non-recipe with you soon)! My retreat guests have been eating them by the handful. Come back next week for a juicy story about…a juicy story!
AMA: Mark Your Calendars, June Coffee Klatsch Date
Join me for lunch and Ask Me Anything - Saturday, June 14th, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM EST. I started this monthly Coffee Klatsch when I launched the newsletter because people often ask me out for coffee to “pick my brain” and as much as I’d love to, I can’t meet with everyone. This is your chance to ask me questions and be in community, every month.

If you’ve ever wondered how to scheme your way into a food job, cure olives in a pillowcase, or what the inside of Bourdain’s fridge looked like; this is the place for you. So, please— pull up a stool, pour yourself something strong, and let’s talk turkey (neck), the politics of steak and frozen yogurt, and whether you should accept rumaki from a stranger. (yes, always).
Last month, I had the pleasure of hosting food creatives and friends join me in the AMA: Coffee Klatsch to chat about— pivoting, building community, starting out, when to get an agent, why "the more creative, the less it pays," and the idea of “good enough content.” I am grateful to Janet Paist, Jennifer Levy,
, Michelle Gerard, Olique, and for joining live.Want to join the conversation? You can upgrade for about the price of a decent cup of New York City coffee. Founding members get a 60-minute 1:1 call with me—your official chance to “pick my brain." I’ve got plenty of ripe fruit, strong opinions, and real talk to go around.
PS: One guest at my retreat found my book in the window of a bookshop on a snowy night in D.C. What she didn’t know was that I was inside, just beyond that window, signing copies of my new book. She then found me on Instagram and saw that I was hosting the retreat and decided to come with her mother. As I write this, they’re doing daybreak yoga under the lemon tree.
This is your nudge to follow the breadcrumbs; they are leading you home.
So grateful to be in Sicily with you! I can’t wait for the next live 🙌🏼
yummy dispatch!
